This coming Tuesday November 8 may well be
the most important election in our history and many consider the presidential
election to be a choice between two evils.
Nevertheless, we must look at Church teaching to be our guide. The United States Council of Catholic Bishops
gives a very good general guide (http://www.usccb.org/issues-and-action/faithful-citizenship/index.cfm
).
The overriding issue is our duty to protect the right to life from conception to natural death and the dignity of the person. Also key is which candidate would appoint pro-life judges to the Supreme Court who would interpret the Constitution as the original framers intended, NOT to rewrite the Constitution legislate from the bench.
Furthermore, the election of congressmen, governors, judges, and local officials are also important. We need elected officials who seek public office to serve the people and seek the common good of all, NOT personal gain or perks from the office.

Thus every voter needs wisdom and guidance
from God to enlighten our votes. We
urgently need prayer. Thus the United States Bishops are appealing for
prayer. Below is the novena prayer in
English and Spanish recommended by the Knights of Columbus. It’s too late for a novena, but we can still
pray a tridium (3 days of prayer) or whatever you can.
On Monday November 7, the eve of the election starting at 7 pm, the knights of Council 3335 are sponsoring an all night adoration before the Blessed Sacrament at St. Louis Church in Gallipolis, Ohio to pray for our country, asking the Holy Spirit to give the voters wisdom in choosing their president, representatives, and judges at all levels.
After the election let us pray for unity among the people and reconciliation between the parties so that they stop the gridlock and the fighting and work together as much as possible for the common good, discarding their special interests. Let's also pray that whoever wins moderate his or her more extreme positions, especially those that oppose Church teaching. Often the great responsibility of the office causes one to grow and mellow. Let us continue to pray for our new president because he or she will face many great problems and crises. May God be with him or her.

Also below is a recommendation of mine to watch a shocking documentary on
EWTN, the Catholic Television cable and satellite on Saul Alinsky, a diabolical
influence on some political and church leaders today and in the past. At least two prominent
national figures are admirers of his.
In sum vote and make it an intelligent, informed, and above all a prayerful vote.

As the election nears, the Knights of Columbus is urging its members and other Catholic Americans to pray
The Immaculate Conception, the Patroness of the
United States of America |
The
prayer will be in the form of a novena — nine consecutive days of prayer — and
will run from Oct. 30 to the eve of the election on November 7.
The
prayer is addressed to the Holy Trinity through the intercession of Mary, the
Mother of Jesus, under her title of the Immaculate Conception.
Individuals, families, councils and parishes are all invited to participate.
“The Church teaches that Catholics are called to form their consciences based on Church teaching and vote in accordance with that well-formed conscience,” said Supreme Knight Carl Anderson. He added: “Pope Francis has said in reference to the U.S. election that we should ‘study the proposals well, pray and choose with your conscience,’ and this novena is designed to help Catholic Americans do that.”
NOTE: It’s too late
for a Novena, but we can make it a TRIDIUM (3 days).

NOVENA PRAYER
Sunday,
Oct. 30 – Monday, Nov. 7
in
prayerful preparation for the election (Spanish is in the Appendix.)
Prayer
to Mary, the Immaculate Conception,
Patroness
of the United States
Most Holy Trinity: Our Father in
Heaven,
who chose Mary as the fairest of
your daughters;
Holy Spirit, who chose Mary as your
Spouse;
God the Son, who chose Mary as your
Mother,
in union with Mary we adore your
majesty
and acknowledge your supreme,
eternal dominion
and authority.
Most Holy Trinity,
we put the United States of America
into the hands of Mary Immaculate
in order that she may present the
country to you.
Through her we wish to thank you
for the great resources of this land
and for the freedom which has been
its heritage.
Through the intercession of Mary,
have mercy on the Catholic Church in
America.
Grant us peace. Have mercy on our
president
and on all the officers of our
government.
Grant us a fruitful economy,
born of justice and charity.
Have mercy on capital and industry
and labor.
Protect the family life of the
nation.
Guard the precious gift of many
religious vocations.
Through the intercession of our
Mother,
have mercy on the sick, the tempted,
sinners
– on all who are in need.
Mary, Immaculate Virgin, our Mother,
Patroness of our land, we praise you
and honor you and give ourselves to
you.
Protect us from every harm. Pray for
us,
that acting always according to your
will
and the will of your divine Son,
we may live and die pleasing to God.
Amen.

FASCINATING
DOCUMENTARY ON SAUL ALINSKY, THE FATHER OF COMMUNITY ORGANIZING ON EWTN
EWTN,
the Catholic Channel on Cable and Satellite (Dish Ch 261 and on the internet at
ewtn.com) will be showing a shocking documentary on Saul Alinsky (1909 – 1972),
the father of community organizing. It
shows his Marxist influenced methodology and how he has been able to influence
liberals of today (including at least two very prominent national figures, one of whom started out as a
community organizer and both are admirers of Alinsky) with secularist goals
divorced from God. They don’t call it
Marxism, Communism, or even Socialism, but rather using the terms: liberal,
progressive, and democratic. The
documentary shows Alinsky’s philosophy of the Machiavellian “The end justifies
the means” including violence and deceit to achieve their goals even if they
violate Christian morality, religious freedom, and human rights. “You do what you can and then you clothe it
in moral garments, pick the target, freeze it, personalize it, and polarize it”. It is very revealing on how liberals of today
are so influenced by him. He even had
considerable success in influencing Catholic leaders, intellectuals, and even
Bishops of the Church. That’s one of the
reasons that Vatican II was corrupted under the guise of “The Spirit of Vatican
II” and people believed them without ever having read what is in the Vatican II
documents. Shocking are some of the
quotes from his book “Rules for Radicals” and an interview with Playboy
Magazine a few weeks before he died as saying that if there is an afterlife, he
would choose hell because his kind of people are there and he would organize
them. See for yourself and decide
whether the documentary is credible or simply propaganda.
The
well done documentary times are as follows:
